BJP President Amit Shah has made it a practice to interact with correspondents covering the BJP beat, at least once a week. This gives newsmen a free flow of information but the real gain is Shah's as he gets feedback about other political parties as well. There are also inputs about chief ministers and BJP state units.

From the Hindi heartland alone, there are 30-40 senior media persons representing at least 50 dailies whom Amit Shah can call by their first name. Such is the level of intimacy between the BJP chief and the Hindi media.
