Hindi rules at PM's meeting with ambassadors

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a meeting with Indian ambassadors at the Annual Conference of Diplomats in new Delhi commended them for their chaste Hindi. "You have not forgotten Hindi though you all have been out of India for over 25 years on foreign postings in various capitals of the world," he told them and enjoyed the session where a few ambassadors even quoted from Hindi literature.

He told the gathering that he wanted to institutionalize Hindi as medium of conversation and deliberation.

He won the hearts of Indian ambassadors who were in New Delhi for their annual conference with this pat on the back.

However, few of the senior ambassadors who were keen to get posted as the envoy to the United States got their Hindi speech scripted and memorised it to ensure fluency.
