Former Delhi principal secretary Rajendra Kumar granted bail in corruption case.

Kumar was arrested by the CBI on charges of corruption earlier this month. He was granted bail today on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh.

The special court, while granting bail, told Kumar that he cannot contact the witnesses, or tamper with evidence in the corruption case.

The court also imposed travel restrictions on him and ruled that he cannot travel outside Delhi without its permission.

Kumar was suspended by both Delhi government and the Ministry of Home Affairs as the rules mandate that an government officer must be suspended if he/she has been under police custody for more than 48 hours.

Home ministry officials claimed that only the Centre has the power to suspend the 1989-batch IAS officer and asked the Delhi government to withdraw its order.
