First aircraft with evacuated people from South Sudan to land in Kerala on Friday

The first plane of Indian Air Forces C-17 aircraft is on its way to India from Juba, with Indian nationals who were stranded in South Sudan.
 
Minister of State for Ministry of External Affairs, General VK Singh is onboard C-17 aircraft, leading Operation Sankat Mochan himself.

Two IAF C17s departed for South Sudan around 5 am today.

There are around 600 Indians in South Sudan, of them 450 are in Juba, capital city of South Sudan and nearly 150 are outside Juba, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj informed.

South Sudans President Salva Kiir has ordered a ceasefire after days of intense fighting in Juba left more than 150 dead and many more injured since fighting broke out on Thursday.

There was renewed fighting between the government and former rebel forces since Thursday in Juba.
