20:52   Dallas police chief: Shooter seemed delusional, scrawled cryptic messages in blood
The gunman who fatally shot five Dallas law enforcement officers appeared delusional, taunted police during extensive negotiations by singing and "laughing at us' and wrote cryptic messages on a wall with his own blood before he was killed by a bomb-equipped robot, Dallas Police Chief David Brown said.

The shooter, Micah Xavier Johnson, was "determined to hurt more officers' and would have done so if the pound of C-4 explosive carried by the robot had not ended the standoff, Brown said.

The additional details of Johnson's behavior came after a tense night marked by the arrest of a prominent activist in the Black Lives Matter movement and protests in Louisiana and Minnesota that resulted in as many as 200 arrests, according to activists and police.

Bindu, mother of a young pregnant woman, who converted to Islam after marriage and is among a group of 17 people from Kerala suspected to have joined Islamic State, today met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and sought investigation into the matter.

"The CM told me that probe in the matter is progressing," Bindu, who submitted a petition stating that her daughter was missing and sought a probe, said.

Bindu, who hails from the city, said her 25-year old daughter Nimisha came along with her husband to her house on May 16 last and on May 18, she received a call from her daughter that she was going to Sri Lanka on some business.

"She did not revealed from where she was calling even though I asked her repeatedly," Bindu said. "I tried to prevent her from proceeding, but it failed," she said.

"I also used to get messages from her till June 4, butafter that there was no information about her," she said.

Bindu said her daughter Nimisha was a final year dental student in Kasaragod when she met and got married to a Christian youth, who later converted to Islam along with her.

Bindu also said that family did not know more details such as when she met her husband 32-year old Bexin, an MBA graduate, who also later converted to Islam. They got married in November 2015, Bindu said.

19:38   Ive never been unfaithful in marriage: Imran Khan
"I am 63 years old and have been married for only 10 years, but I am more of a staunch believer of marriage now [after two divorces] than I ever was. I led a very envied bachelor's life. Many people would have loved to have the kind of life I've led, but if you get marriage right, it is a very civilised way of life. I believe it gives you a much deeper happiness than the pleasure-seeking that you sacrifice," says former cricketer, chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan.

Whether Andy Murray secures his second Wimbledon title or Milos Raonic claims his first Grand Slam victory, a schoolboy from Croydon, South London, will forever be able to look back at The 130th Championships and say he was there, on Centre Court, when another chapter in tennis history was written.

Eleven-year-old Yousef Maza will walk to the net in the company of Championships' Referee Andrew Jarrett to perform the coin toss which signals the start of the sporting combat that is the Gentlemen's Singles Final.

Yousef, who attends Links Primary School in Tooting, represents Jigsaw4u, a Mitcham-based charity supported by the Wimbledon Foundation.

Jigsaw4u helps children and young people through trauma, loss and bereavement.

We chose Yousef because we knew this experience would create a memory for him that he would never ever forget, said Jenny Harwood, Mentoring Project Co-ordinator at Jigsaw4u.

Yousefs response was duly rewarding. When I was chosen to perform the Coin Toss I put my hand over my mouth and started screaming and then all my friends started screaming. It was just so exhilarating, he said.

18:09   Islamic State lost quarter of its Iraq, Syria territory in 18 months
Islamic State lost an area the size of Ireland -- a quarter of its territory -- to hostile forces in the last 18 months in Iraq and Syria and is likely to further step up attacks on civilians in coming months, IHS said in a report on Sunday.

The territory controlled by the ultra-hardline Sunni group shrank from 90,800 sq km in January 2015, six months after it declared a caliphate in Syria and Iraq, to 68,300 sq km, the research firm said.

IHS has also estimated that Islamic State's monthly revenue is also decreasing. In the middle of 2015 their monthly income averaged at $80 million. By early 2016, however, the average had fallen to $56 million.

18:05   Serena's Black Excellence comes at a vital time for America
The simple forehand volley caromed into the open court and the champion tumbled gently backward into the grass; the coup de grace as elementary as the three service winners that preceded it.

Serena Williams was the Wimbledon champion for a seventh time with a straight-sets win over Angelique Kerber -- a record-tying 22nd major championship all but ending the argument over whether she is best there has ever been.

The greatest American sports tale of our time remains a work in progress: a black female Jehovah's Witness from Compton who entered an arena populated almost exclusively by white women from more advantaged backgrounds and persevered in the face of racism, family tragedy, injuries and illness to dominate three separate eras of challengers and rewrite the history books of a sport not desperately keen to be revised.

And at a moment in America where the basic value of black lives has been violently called into question, Serena's latest showcase of unapologetic Black Excellence could not have come at a more vital time.

"The extra judicial killing of Kashmiri leader Burhan Wani and scores of other innocent Kashmiris is deplorable and condemnable. The Congress party is all set to announce this month the revival of the National Herald and two other newspapers that went out of print eight years ago due to financial crunch.

14:36   5 reasons Kashmir wont see peace in this lifetime. Or next
It has been imperative several times in the past that we cut the bullshit on Kashmir.

As swarms of people spilled out of their houses in solidarity with dead militant Burhan Wani, you're probably exhausted from the clucking, academic head-shaking and rueful refrains about what a complex issue Kashmir is.

If you've got Kashmiri friends or colleagues, you're probably waiting for one of them to sigh and tell you that you don't understand the Kashmir issue.

I do, however, believe that a "complex issue" has over time fermented into a handy ticket to postpone any specific conversation about what truly keeps Kashmir never very far from blood.

13:13   Water portfolio gone, Pankaja Munde refuses to attend summit
A day after divesting her of the important water conservation portfolio in the Cabinet reshuffle, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was seen as placating a seemingly upset Pankaja Munde, asking her to attend an international water summit.

Apparently unhappy, Munde, who was scheduled to attend the summit - to be held in Singapore on Monday -- tweeted saying she would not attend since she was no longer the minister concerned.

Chief Minister Fadnavis, who is out of the country on an official tour, responded immediately on Twitter, saying: "Of course you must attend WLS 2016. As a senior minister you would be representing The Government of Maharashtra."

Fifteen people, including 11 members of one family who were shot while still in their beds, died in a series of attacks by gunmen in the capital of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, officials said on Saturday.

The attacks took place late Friday and early Saturday in Ciudad Victoria, in which six minors were also killed. While officials didnt specify who was behind the violence, factions of the splintered Zetas Cartel are fighting for control of the city.
