We will be a trusted friend: PM Modi assures Mozambique

Following their interaction, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed a joint press conference with Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.

Highlights of PM Modi's remarks: 

* I am particularly happy about our agreement to facilitate youth & sports cooperation and exchanges.

* India-Mozambique signed 3 agreements: MoU in the field of youth affairs & sports; Long term agreement for purchase of pulses from Mozambique; and on drug demand reduction & prevention of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances & precursor chemicals.

* We agreed to put cooperation in agriculture on the fast track. We are also strengthening our partnership in food security.

* Mozambique has already been one of the gateways for Indian investments into Africa.

* Terrorism is the gravest security threat facing the world today.

* India was one of the strongest supporters of Mozambican Independence. Our shared struggles & suffering under colonial oppression brought our two countries together. In Mozambique's march towards economic prosperity, India will walk every step of the way. We will be a trusted friend.

* India will be donating essential medicines for the Mozambican public health system, including medicines for treatment of AIDS
