Addressing the Indian community in Maputo as part of his one day trip to the African nation of Mozambique, PM Modi told those present that he would've loved to have spent more time with them.

"But I assure you that when I come here next, I will give you all more time," PM Modi said.

"Africa is a land which contributed to India being known internationally, Indians in Africa contribute to India's status worldwide," the PM stated.

"And I want to thank you all for that," he added.

"You all have conserved what is "Indian" even here, and you keep handing it over generations after generations," the PM added.

"Even as you mix with local societies, you've conserved the essence of your Indian-ness," the prime minister said.
