Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, serving a five-year sentence at the Yerwada central prison in Pune for illegal possession and destruction of an AK-56 rifle in 1993 serial blasts case, was released early this morning, on completion of his prison sentence.

The actor was released  103 days ahead of the official end of his prison term on the grounds of 'good conduct'.

Dutt, who was convicted in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case for possessing illegal weapons and sentenced to five years in jail, had already served 18 months before the guilty verdict was pronounced.

After the Supreme Court upheld his conviction in 2013, the actor had to server 42 months of his remaining jail term.

On his release, the actor will fly to Mumbai, and among his first acts will be to offer prayers in the city's famed Siddhivinayak temple. After that he will proceed to south Mumbai to pray at his mother, yesteryear star Nargis's grave, before heading home.

Where, no doubt, Bollywood stars will turn up in strength to greet the actor.
