Loud music ban lifted on Goa Carnival, Ganesh Chaturthi

Goa government has issued notification allowing loud music till late night for several festivals, including the Carnival, which begins in the state from tomorrow, and Ganesh Chaturthi.

The notification, issued last evening, has listed fifteen festivals which are exempted from the loud music ban.

Currently, the music cannot be played on loudspeakers after 10 PM. However, the state government has now allowed it to be played during these festivals till midnight.

The festivals that are exempted from loud music ban include Carnival, Holi, Easter Eve, Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, Kojagiri Pournima, Diwali eve, Diwali, Tripurari Pournima, Christmas and New Year. For Ganesh Chaturthi, the use of loudspeakers is allowed on second, fifth and eleventh day of idol immersion. The permissions are granted as per the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules-2000.
