The Prime Minister's Office is peeved with the information and broadcasting ministry as well as the Press Information Bureau  over the television coverage of the fallout of demonetisation, reports senior journalist Rajeev Sharma.

The PMO feels that most television channels are now highlighting the public sufferings and long queues at banks and ATMs whereas earlier the same channels were giving a 'positive' coverage.

Senior PMO officials have pulled up key officials of the I&B ministry and PIB and instructed them to get in touch with the channels and impress upon them to give 'balanced' coverage.

Flummoxed I&B and PIB officials are not sure how to implement the PMO's instructions.
