Cyclone Vardah: TN seeks Rs 1,000 cr for 'rehabilitation and reconstruction'

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam writes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting to depute a team to study extensive damages caused by the cyclonic storm Vardah.

He also sought Rs 1,000 crore as National Disaster Response Fund for the state.

'Request you to urgently sanction release of an 'on account' payment of Rs 1,000 crores from National Disaster Response Fund to the state government,' the TN CM wrote.

'Payment of Rs 1,000 crores requested to enable immediate relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction measures to proceed expeditiously,' Panneerselvam wrote to the PM. -- ANI
