For me, energy sustainability is a sacred duty: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the 12th International Oil and Gas Conference, Petrotech-2016 in New Delhi.

Addressing delegates, PM Modi said: 

* India needs energy which is accessible to the poor. It needs efficiency in energy use.

* Sustainable, reasonably priced energy crucial for development

* The Ujjwala Yojna has provided nearly 10 million new connections in just seven months

* We are building a new gas pipeline to the least developed eastern region, which has become a catalyst to new jobs

* Indian economy expected to grow five times by 2040.

* While global economy goes through uncertainty, India has shown tremendous resilience. FDI at highest level.

* Energy in general and hydrocarbons in particular are an important part of my vision for India's future.

* Hydrocarbons will continue to play an important part in India's growth.

* Energy sustainability for me is a sacred duty, must do it out of commitment and not out of compulsion
