Despite best efforts, CM remains in grave situation: Apollo Joint MD

Apollo Hospitals Joint MD Sangita Reddy gives an update on Jayalalithaa's health. She posted on Twitter, "Despite our best efforts, our beloved CM remains in a grave situation."

Meanwhile, India Today TV is reporting that AIADMK MLAs called to Apollo Hospital one by one; MLAs asked to sign declaration making O Panneerselvam as successor to Jayalalithaa.

Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao will visit Apollo Hospital around 3:15pm.

According to an NDTV report, Jayalalithaa's doctor was by her side when she had a cardiac arrest at around 5.15 pm on Sunday.

Quoting senior doctors, the channel said after a patient has been on the extracorporeal membrane heart assist device or ECMO -- a life support system that aids the functioning of the heart and lung -- for 24 hours, an assessment is considered critical to see whether she needs to stay on the device and that will happen between 5 and 6 pm today.
