In a big relief to the family of Mohammed Akhlaq, who was lynched to death by a violent mob over suspicion of consuming beef in the Bisada village near Dadri in Noida last year, the Allahabad high court on Friday stayed their arrest in connection with the case.

Mohammed Akhlaq's family had moved the court against a recent session court order directing a police case be filed against them for storing and consuming beef. Akhlaq's mother, wife, daughter and sons were made accused in FIR after session court's order.

Akhlaq's murder had triggered a huge public outcry and sharp criticism for the Centre over its failure to protect the minorities.
