SBI chairman welcomes Patel's appointment as RBI governor

SBI Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya, who was mentioned as one of the candidates to succeed Raghuram Rajan, has welcomed the appointment Urjit Patel as the RBI governor.

"Appointment of Urjit Patel comes as a welcome move. Dr. Patel has been at the helm of institutionalizing the inflation targeting regime in the monetary policy framework.

His appointment signals continuity of policy intent, both on part of the RBI and the government," Bhattacharya said.
