Sonowal briefs PM, Rajnath about situation in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the situation in Assam where at least 14 people were killed by extremists.

Sonowal, who was in Delhi, met the prime minister and apprised him about the incident in Kokrajhar district and the steps taken to nab those involved in it.

The chief minister also informed the home minister, who assured full Central assistance to the state government, official sources said.

Sonowal has cut short his visit to the national capital and returned to Assam this evening after the violent incident and instructed state police to arrest those involved the in it.
