Swamy rules in RS

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, the Union Minister for Parliamentary affairs, put the Rajya Sabha Chairman in an awkward situation today by raising the issue that newly inducted MP Dr Subramanian Swamy's name had been omitted by the Chair from the approved list of those MPs raising a question during Zero Hour.

Deputy chairman PJ Kurien at once stood up and said that ministers should not raise such subjects. Since Kurien is privy to certain developments and the approved list was not given to the minister there was a communication gap. But according to BJP MPs Chairman Hamid Ansari on Thursday struck Dr Swamy's name from the list after approving his name to raise a point of order on the AgustaWestland helicopter issue.
