Congress President Sonia Gandhi today sought to know why the BJP government is gunning for her on the AugustaWestland helicopter matter

Sonia Gandhi got emotional when she interacted informally with all Congress Working Committee members before Parliament convened this morning.

Her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the person Congress rank and file believe can change the fortunes of the party, was present at 10 Janpath before the meeting began and stayed on  after the meeting ended.

Former defence minister and a close Gandhi aide AK Antony expressed doubts about whether AugustaWestland had indeed been blacklisted
by the UPA. There were efforts to contact TKA Nair in Kerala to really understand the issue. Nair was former PM Manmohan Singh's advisor.

In fact, before the CWC meeting, Congress loyalist Ahmed Patel reached out to former NSA Shiv Shankar Menon to ascertain the facts and figures of the case.

After the meeting ended, Sonia Gandhi wanted to issue a written press statement but her advisers suggested she meet a few friendly TV journalists and give her bytes.

Sonia told news channels that the Congress had nothing to hide. "Let them take my name, I am not afraid. Why hasn't government conducted an inquiry in two years," she asked.
