A Bangladeshi law student was murdered by four unidentified men on Wednesday evening near Dhaka's Jagannath University, where he was pursuing a Masters degree, reported Dhaka Tribune.

Nazimuddin Samad had posted against Islamism on his Facebook page, the police told AFP. The 28-year-old was then hacked and shot dead by the men on a busy street near the university, in what appears to be the latest in a wave of killings targeting secular activists, writers and bloggers in the country.

Samad had frequently posted his secular views on social media, where he criticised Islamic fundamentalists. He was also associated with a secular campaigning group called Gonojagoron Moncho. His attackers allegedly shouted Allahu Akbar, or god is the greatest, while killing him. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
