Six arrested for attack on Spanish tourists in Rajasthan

Six people have been arrested for thrashing and manhandling Spanish tourists in Pushkar near Ajmer in Rajasthan on Tuesday.

The attack had prompted External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to seek a report from the Rajasthan government. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had also assured all possible help to the Spanish tourists.

All the six accused, including a minor, were rounded up by the police in 24 hours and also recovered all the items they looted from the couple.

Most of the accused in this case already have a record of criminal activities in the past and have been involved in serious crimes.

On Tuesday, the tourists had rented bikes and were on their way to Ajaypal, situated on the back side of the Taragarh hills, when the incident took place.   The attackers tore women's clothes and attempted to rape them while the male tourists' were attacked with a stone.

The miscreants later fled the spot when the woman reportedly called up the owner of the hotel they were staying in. The owner arrived at the spot a little while later and took the couple to a hospital in Ajmer.
