Mumbai: Video of women constables slapping devotee goes viral

The Mumbai Police on Monday ordered an inquiry into an alleged manhandling of a young woman by women police officials during the recently concluded Ganesh festivities. 

The inquiry was ordered after a video clip of around 29 seconds showing a young woman being slapped by three women police officials at the Lalbaug Cha Raja pandal in Central Mumbai, went viral. 

According to the police, the incident occurred on the evening of September 25 when the girl tired to enter through the VIP gate of the pandal. 

The victim was allegedly stopped by the policewomen deployed at the said gate. In the video, the girl is seen arguing with the women police constables who subsequently slap her and shove her, repeatedly.
