California Gov declares emergency amid massive wildfires

The governor of the US state of California today declared a state of emergency after massive wildfires in the state's north intensified due to a prolonged drought, destroying many homes and forcing thousands to flee.

California Gov Jerry Brown declared the state of emergency as firefighters in the state's north battled the rapidly spreading wildfires, that have spread to tens of thousands of acres north and east of San Francisco.
