The Supreme Court today decided to examine its own decision of barring photographs of chief ministers on government ads.

The top court issued a notice to Common Cause and Centre for Public Interest Litigation, the NGO on whose petition it had ruled that only the photos of the President, Prime Minister and Chief Justice of India could be used in government ads.

The Supreme Court is set to take up the case on October 1, reports NDTV.

Four states -- Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Assam -- want the top court to reconsider its decision, and allow them to use photos of the chief minister on government ads.
