Rahul accuses Modi of ignoring farmers, labourers

Mounting an offensive against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi today accused him of ignoring farmers and labourers while harping on democracy.

"Modi-ji talks about democracy but does not talk about our farmers and labourers, who run this democracy. He forgets them," he said after meeting farmers, who had come to participate in a victory procession organized by Youth The Congress vice president said his fight to make them equal partners in the progress of the nation will continue.

Congress set up a high-level committee to organise 'Kisan Samman' rally on September 20 to target the Modi government as "anti-farmer" ahead of Bihar Assembly polls.

"Met delegations of farmers from various states and assured them of the Congress Party's continued support. Proud to have fought alongside farmers against the NDA Govt's anti-farmer amendments to the Land Bill. "But the fight to ensure that farmers are equal partners in the progress of the nation continues and Congress is committed to that goal," Gandhi said on Twitter.
