One person has been killed and seven others injured in the latest ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Pakistani Army has been firing and using mortars and rocket propelled grenades since late Sunday night.

Indian troops are retaliating to the firing by the other side.

Pakistani troops fired mortars, rocket-projectile grenades (RPGs) and automatic weapons targeting forward posts in violation of ceasefire, a Defence spokesman said.

Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire eight times in September this year ahead of Director General-level talks between the border guarding forces of India and Pakistan from September 9.

Ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir, including sniper attacks, and infiltration are among the key issues India is expected to raise with Pakistan during the five-day talks.
