Addressing a rally in Mumbai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "If it was not for Dr Ambedkar where would I be?"

"Babasaheb Ambedkar is an inspiration not just for one community but for the entire world. We know who got the Bharat Ratna when. But they did not give the Bharat Ratna to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar."

"Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar faced so many challenges but there was no bitterness in him. He is a Maha Purush," the PM said.

Earlier in the day, Modi laid the foundation stone for the Ambedkar memorial in the city.
