The ashes of Vishwa Hindu Parishad patriarch Ashok Singhal, who passed away at a Gurgaon hospital last week, were today brought here and immersed in the holy Sangam in presence of a large number of senior Sangh Parivar leaders.

The ashes of Singhal, who breathed his last on November 17, were brought here by the VHP's international general secretary Champat Rai. A huge posse of VHP activists had gathered at the Allahabad Junction this morning where Rai arrived with the ashes by a train from New Delhi.

The ashes were, thereafter, taken to Kesar Bhavan -- the local office of the VHP -- in a procession amidst fervent chants of 'Jai Shri Ram'.
