The winter session of Parliament set to start from November 26. The Modi government was looking at this session to pass critical bills like the GST had it won Bihar. But with such a humiliating defeat, it seems unlikely given that the government still remains vulnerable in the Rajya Sabha. Moreover, with the Bihar win, a resurgent Congress may be even more aggressive in the Lok Sabha.

The monsoon session of Parliament, which saw protests between the government and the opposition, was a complete washout. It was marked by sloganeering by the Congress party and a war of words between Sushma Swaraj and Rahul Gandhi. The Centre's most important reform bill, the Goods and Services Tax bill, remained in the Upper House without it being passed.
