The Islamic State has recruited at least 400 children this year '" far more than the number of new adult recruits, activists said.

The tiny terrorists are used in combat missions and as spies, the London-based monitoring group the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said in a Tuesday statement.

The children recruits far outnumber their adult counterparts: Only 120 grown-up jihadists joined ISIS between Jan. 1 and March 23, the lowest period of recruitment since summer 2014. It's not clear how many children were recruited into ISIS last year.
