Reacting to Janata Dal-United president Sharad Yadav's sexist comments about south Indian women and their saanvli bodies, DMK's Kanimozhi at whom the comments were made, said, "It's not a compliment. It's such a patronizing way of looking at women."She added that not every time can you justify a statement saying you were quoting literature. An irate Kanimozhi added, "Women might have been treated differently centuries ago,but you can't go back to the sati systemand justify that."
