IMF chief in India next week, to meet PM Modi, Jaitley

Christine Lagarde, the chief of the International Monetary Fund will visit India next week, during which she is likely to meet the country's top leadership including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"She will be in Delhi on March 16, and then be moving down to Mumbai on March 17. She'll have a couple of speeches and remarks and presentations at those events," Assistant Director and Mission Chief for India in the IMF's Asian and Pacific Department, Paul Cashin told reporters yesterday.

In addition to meeting the PM, Lagarde is also expected to meet Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. No further details of her India trip were publicly available.
