Lanka to release 86 Indian fishermen to mark Modi's visit

As many as 86 Indian fishermen arrested for allegedly poaching in Sri Lankan waters are set to be released as a goodwill gesture to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit, the first by an Indian premier to this country in over 25 years. Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena's office said the decision to release the fishermen had been taken. Prime Minister Modi, who is due in Colombo on Friday, will be the first Indian PM since Rajiv Gandhi in 1987 to make a bilateral visit to the island.
