In a rather nasty tweet, All India Progressive Women Association secretary Kavita Krishnan has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "stalking daughters".

Krishnan tweeted, "Careful before sharing #SelfieWithDaughter with #LameDuckPM. He has a record of stalking daughters."

The hashtag #SelfieWithDaughter started trending worldwide yesterday after Modi asked people to post their photos during his radio address Mann ki Baat.

The PM made the request referring to a contest started by the sarpanch of a village in Haryana -- the state that has acquired a dubious distinction for its skewed sex ratio (the number of females to males).

"Some days ago, a sarpanch in Haryana's Biwipur village, Sunil Jaglan, had come up with an interesting idea," Modi said yesterday. "He started the Selfie With Daughter initiative, under which all fathers had to click selfies with their daughters and post it on social media."

Krishnan's tweet has angered Modi's followers.

"You have to be really blinded with hatred to diss something like #SelfieWithDaughter just because it is proposed by Modi," tweeted Shefali Vaidya.

"Spineless Kavita Krishnan the so called fighter for women's rights, has really stooped too low to get attention," said another tweet.
