Congress objects to 'Namaste'
June 29, 2015  15:02
Namaste is the new acronym for the north-east states -- Nagaland, Manipur, Assam, Sikkim, Tripura, etc -- coined by Assam governor, Padmanabha Acharya, who uses the word while referring to the seven sisters, the north-east, during his speeches.

Congress leaders have objected to 'namaste' as they feel it may hurt religious sentiments in a predominantly Christian region, but Acharya is in no mood to relent.
