UN chief Ban condemns attacks in Tunisia, Kuwait, France

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in Tunisia, Kuwait and France today and called for the perpetrators of "appalling acts" of violence to be swiftly brought to justice.

The UN chief affirmed that far from weakening the international community's resolve to fight the scourge of terrorism, these heinous attacks would only strengthen the commitment of the UN to help defeat those bent on murder, destruction and the annihilation of human development and culture, a statement released by his spokesperson said.

He said those responsible for these "appalling acts" of violence must be swiftly brought to justice. Ban extended condolences to the families of those killed and injured in today's attacks and expresses solidarity with the peoples and governments of Tunisia, Kuwait and France.

54 people were killed in attacks across the three countries today.
