We hear that officials close to President Pranab Mukherjee have been upset that defamatory, critical and adverse references about the office of the president and the president's secretariat on the social media is being taken seriously.

They feel that the 'misinformation' may hamper international relations and stymie diplomatic ties. The office wants references to the President's secretary, Omita Paul's alleged links to Lalit Modi to be deleted on Twitter.

Yesterday, the office of the President denied the charges leveled against Omita Paul, by former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi.

The Presidents office, in a letter, has termed  Lalit  Modis charges as baseless, tendentious and malicious allegations.

This is with reference to a news report which has appeared today in various publications, referring to a tweet issued by Mr. Lalit Modi in which the name of the Secretary to the President is mentioned. Mr. Modis charges are baseless, tendentious and malicious," said the statement.

Lalit Modi, in a tweet, had accused Omita Paul of having connections with a big hawala operator.

BJP is all set to release details of senior Congress leaders involved with  Lalit Modi and also IPL.

In a counterattack, the BJP has also demanded the resignation of those leaders who are still close to Lalit Modi -- there are eight Congress leaders in the list of friends Lalit Modi's. That's a bomb the Congress hopes will be a dud.
