Modi's remarks trigger #despitebeingawoman war cry on Twitter

Shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed back in New Delhi after a historic three-day visit which saw milestone agreement signed between India and Bangladesh, he was greeted by an unpleasant hash tag on his favourite online space, Twitter.

#despitebeingawoman had climbed up to be the number one trending hash tag on the micro-blogging site, triggered by Modi's comments in Dhaka about his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina fighting terrorism, "despite being a woman".

An overwhelming number of women went online to register their displeasure over Modi's remarks, tweeting a series of replies to Modi's observation.
