Home ministry dumps CBI request to prosecute IB officials in Ishrat Jahan case
June 08, 2015  13:25
The home ministry has refused prosecution sanction for Intelligence Bureau officials in the Ishrat Jahan case.

The CBI had sought immediate sanction against former IB officials -- Special Director Rajendra Kumar, Tarun Mittal, M K Sinha and Rajiv Wankhede -- so that the investigating agency can proceed with their prosecution.

Kumar is charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and also under the Arms act in this supplementary charge sheet filed in February last year. The other three are charged for the same offences except the murder.

According to CBI, the killing of Jahan and three others in a fake encounter in 2004 was result of joint conspiracy of Gujarat police and the IB.
