Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad is likely to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Monday to discuss the issue of alliance for Bihar polls, a day after Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar held consultations in this regard with Rahul Gandhi.

Sources said that the meeting is likely to be held in the morning.

Congress Vice-President Rahul is learnt to have favoured a broader secular alliance for the state and he has also told Kumar about the party view in this matter.

Bihar's ruling Janata Dal-United and Lalu Prasad's RJD had on Sunday decided to contest the state assembly elections in alliance and constitute a six member committee to finalise seat-sharing.

"It has been decided in Sunday's meeting that a committee of three members each from RJD and JD-U will decide seat sharing and leaders of both parties will give a final shape to it. It has been decided now that both parties will fight the election in Bihar in alliance," Samajwadi Party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav said.
