Just in: Nestle strikes back. After a press conference by Nestle group CEO this afternoon, the multinational plagued by the ban on its Maggi noodles has challenged the Uttarakhand government's three-month ban on their products in court.

Uttarakhand has banned the sale of the noodles after their tests detected the presence of monosodium glutamate, which was not listed in the ingredients. While India doesn't prohibit MSG, it requires manufacturers to label products that have it.

Delhi, Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar have banned Maggi. With state after state banning Maggi over the presence of lead and 'MSG', Nestle today said it is withdrawing the product from Indian market due to "unfounded confusions" that has affected the consumer trust, but maintained that its noodles are safe for consumption.
