Denying eggs to malnourished children is common in BJP-run states

A staggering 52% of children in Madhya Pradesh are malnourished but chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has flatly refused to provide them with a key source of protein they could use: eggs. He made his stand clear recently while turning down a proposal from the state's own Women and Child Development department to serve eggs on a pilot basis in the anganwadis of three tribal districts.
