Chinese ferry with 458 aboard sinks in storm

A cruise ship carrying more than 450 people capsized after being caught in a storm on the Yangtze River in southern China. The ship, identified as the Eastern Star, had been en route from Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province in eastern China, to Chongqing in southwest China, one of the country's largest cities. State media said the vessel carried 405 Chinese passengers, five travel agency workers and 47 crew members. "Eight people have been rescued," the agency said adding, "Rescue work is hampered by strong wind and heavy rain."
