Prez cancels engagements in Karnataka, returning to Delhi

President Pranab Mukherjee, who arrived here on a two-day visit to Karnataka, has cancelled all his programmes scheduled tomorrow and will head back to New Delhi following the death of former President A P J Abdul Kalam.

Mukherjee was scheduled to attend the second convocation of Central University of Karnataka in Kalaburagi in Gulbarga tomorrow.

The President was scheduled to return here in the evening to attend a function at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences where he would have dedicated the renovated heritage building of the Institute and Magneto Encephalography Equipment to the nation.

Mukherjee's Press Secretary Venu Rajamony said the President has cancelled all his programmes scheduled for tomorrow and will be returning to New Delhi.
