Blast at Italian consulate in Cairo, 5 injured

The Italian consulate in Cairo was bombed on Saturday, leaving at least 5 people injured.

An official has told the state-run news agency Mena that the blast was caused by a car bomb. 

The blast partially destroyed the facade of the building, photos from the scene showed.

No group has yet said it carried out the attack.

The explosion on Saturday morning has wounded five people, including two police officers, medics at the scene told AFP news agency.

Egypt's public prosecutor, Hisham Barakat, was killed last month by a car bomb attack in the city.
