25 swine flu deaths in Telangana, 8 in Haryana

Twenty-five people have succumbed to swine flu and related complications in Telangana this month, while 8 deaths occurred in the state of Haryana.

As of January 29, 1,472 samples of suspected infection cases were tested, of which 523 were positive for swine flu, the state health department said.

Yesterday itself 121 samples were tested and 35 were found to be positive for the H1N1 virus.

"In Haryana, at present 47 positive cases of swine flu have been reported from various districts including Gurgaon, Hisar, Jind, Karnal, Sirsa, Rohtak etc. Total eight deaths have been reported so far," an official spokesman of Haryana Health department said.

As per the statistics from 2009 onwards, the virus had weakened and severity of infection had come down, it said, adding that enough stock of medicines was available at all the hospitals.

Asking people not to panic, it advised them to report to the doctor the symptoms such as high fever, sneezing, cough and body pain, and avoid going to crowded places.
