The Republic Day celebration ends officially with the Beating Retreat ceremony on the 29 January every year at Vijay Chowk. The Indian Air Force, the Indian Navy, and the Indian Army become a part of this three-day ceremony and give National Salute to the President of India.

During the ceremony, the live performances are given by the three wings of the military and a hymn is played by the bands collectively called 'Abide with me'. On the day of the Beating Retreat Ceremony in Delhi, at 6 o'clock in the evening the bugles call the retreat sound, the National flag is lowered, and the National anthem is sung in musical harmony.
