Union minister's convoy mows down minor

A vehicle which was part of Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar's cavalcade today ran over a five-year-old girl killing her on the spot, as the driver lost control of the car after one of its tyres got deflated, police said.

The incident took place around 40 kilometres from Chhindwara, MP, they said.

The deceased has been identified as Roshani Charpe, who was pillion riding the motorcycle of her father. 

Her father and three police constables got injured in the incident.

Makanlal Dixit, one of the police constables, who got injured in the mishap, said, "The incident took place when the Union Mines and Steel Minister, who had come here to campaign for the civic polls, was returning to Nagpur by road to catch a flight. However, the driver of the follow up car lost control after one of the vehicle tyre got punctured."

Two injured, including the father of the deceased, have been admitted to a district hospital, Dixit said.
