In what could be the killer stroke for Arvind Kejrwial, Shanti Bhushan, who is regarded as the patriarch of the Aam Admi Party (AAP) was all praise for Kiran Bedi's anointment as the chief ministerial candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi.

"It's a masterstroke by the BJP to pitch her as a candidate because she has been a crusader against corruption just as Arvind (Kejriwal) has," he said.

In a damning indictment of the AAP, he said, "I think everything is not right in AAP, the party is not being run on lines it was expected to run or what it was established for. Reorientation within the AAP is very much needed, their stress must be on reforming the political system and improving political standards.

"AAP was born out of a crusade against corruption, so they should be happy if a member (Kiran Bedi) of same crusade becomes CM.

"Kiran-ji made a huge contribution to the 'India against corruption' movement. She will provide a very clean and efficient administration," Bhushan said.

Bhushan, who was Union law minister in the Morarji Desai government (1977-79) said Anna should in fact be happy and not peeved about Kiran Bedi joining politics.

"Anna should be very happy that one of his disciples is going to be the CM of Delhi--either Arvind Kejriwal or Kiran Bedi. This shows that the Anna movement has had a great effect on Indian politics," he said.
