SC refuses to hear 'urgent' plea against National Judicial Appointments Commission Act

The Supreme Court has declined the urgent hearing of a plea seeking the quashing of the National Judicial Appointments Commission Act for the appointment of judges in the higher judiciary. "There is no urgency. This will come in usual course," says the SC.

This comes after a PIL was filed in the Supreme Court on Monday, challenging the recently enacted laws that granted constitutional status to the National Judicial Appointments Commission that would replace the collegium system of judges appointing judges.
