BJP aims to eclipse Communist Party of China membership

Buoyed by the rapid increase in its membership since wresting power at the Centre, the BJP has set out on a mission to become the world's numero uno political party with the largest number of registered members, a senior party leader said here today.

"We have fixed our eyes on becoming the world's leading political party soon by eclipsing the Communist Party of China which has more than eight crore registered members," BJP national vice-president and co-incharge of the party's membership drive Dinesh Sharma told reporters.
